Today I am here to share my absolute FAVORITE hidden gem in New York City! This place has breathtaking views, a tranquil atmosphere (which is rare in New York City), and is accessible by public transportation, which is another big deal in the city.
In the summertime people flock to it, there is a ferry that connects it to Governors Island, Lower Manhattan, and South Street Seaport, there is a carousel there, and it is in between two bridges.
It’s Brooklyn Bridge Park!
Brooklyn Bridge Park is an 85-acre post-industrial waterfront site stretching 1.3 miles along Brooklyn’s East River edge. The park spans from the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges in the north to Pier 6 and Atlantic Avenue in the south. The park provides playing fields, sport courts, playgrounds, lawns, and running and bicycle paths.
Here are some of the breathtaking views of the Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn bridge, and Lower Manhattan.

My favorite things to do at Brooklyn Bridge Park are:
- Grab a book and sit on one of the plush lawns for an afternoon in the sun
- Sit on the rocks and take awesome photos – the skyline is a great background for pictures
- Picnic and barbecue - grills are provided, get there early to claim one!
- Smorgasburg – an awesome food frenzy where dozens of restaurants set up shop during the weekends
- Take advantage of the free wi-fi (available in some areas)
- People watch
Lastly, I’ll give you some advice on how to get there. Brooklyn Bridge Park is accessible by several subway lines: the A/C at High Street, 2/3 at Clark Street, 2/3/4/5 at Borough Hall, F at York Street, R at Court Street and bus routes (B25, B63). Visitors can also arrive via seasonal Water Taxi service or the East River Ferry at Fulton Ferry Landing.
